But remember that death is inevitable and talking about it before it comes might mean less losses for the one who will be left behind. Today, we’ll talk about the things that someone other than you should know about especially if they involve finances and if these finance affect the life of someone else.
Payment Schedules
It’s easy to think of death as the perfect excuse to evade financial obligation; some would even fake their deaths to escape debt, the trend giving birth to the term “Pseudocide”. When someone does die, reality is that their payables will live on. Part of life planning is talking to the right people for things like rental items, amortization and mortgage, car and business registration, and a lot of other information that, if just in case something untoward happens to you, someone knows what to do with very important peripheral matters.
Estate Tax
Your property will be distributed to your proper heirs after you die but before these properties are delegated and distributed, it has to be assessed and properly taxed by the government. After you die, all your property will be assessed and taxed accordingly. If it is real estate, the Land Registration Authority will appraise the property so the proper tax may be paid so that propriety may be transferred. You may prepare for this by referring to BIR’s estate tax table so you can give an estimate of how much tax your heirs will need to eventually pay.
Social Media Accounts & Browsing History
It might look like a generational joke but details regarding your social media account and your browsing history as well as personal data online is no laughing matter especially after your demise. If you have someone you truly trust, you may give your social media credentials to that person so that he/she may delete your profiles online. Loved ones of the deceased may do this by contacting Facebook or Twitter; profile options will be given to them after. If you have scandalous, indecent, or compromising content on your computer and browsing history, make sure that there is at least 1 person who will do everything to delete all your data through soft deletion, complete wipe, or straight our destroy your personal hardware like your laptop, smartphone, and hard drive.
Thinking about which memorial service plan or funeral homes in the Philippines can you afford to start investing in is just simply scratching the surface of the face of death. There are a lot of other things that you have to worry about passing on aside from inheritance because whose going to make sure that your browsing history is clean where you no longer can?
